What does it mean to be an Accredited Investor?
The SEC has two general financial criteria for defining Accredited Investor for the average American. Full link to SEC article found here: Link.
- An individual with a net worth inclusive of all liabilities over $1 million, excluding the primary residence (individually or with spouse or partner)
- Required documents for verification
- Asset documentation and complete credit report showing net worth of at least $1 million
- -or- Letter from a lawyer, CPA, investment advisor accredited status
- -or- Send a verification request to a lawyer, CPA, or investment advisor
- Required documents for verification
- Income over $200,000 (individually) or $300,000 (with spouse or partner) in the prior two years and reasonably expects the same for the current year.
- Required documents for verification
- Copy of any tax form containing salary for the past two years
- -or- Letter from a lawyer, CPA, or investment advisor verifying income and accredited status
- Required documents for verification
